August 6 is the date of the LHS ice cream social! It will be held in Central Park near the cannon beginning at 12:30. Please contact Ron or Stephanie Leffler at rsleffler@msn.com if you are able to donate a home baked cake. Ice cream and cake will be served for $5. For added interest, we are offering an opportunity for you to own an antique ice cream table and 4 chairs. Tickets sell for $10 each or 3 for $25. These tickets are available now in the museum and at the Social itself. Drawing will take place at 2:30 on the 6th. You need not be present to win. Please plan to attend. All proceeds will support the Building Fund.

The Memorial Weekend recycle sale was a huge success, netting over $15,000. We received more donations than ever before and enjoyed cooler-than-usual weather. We began selling opportunity tickets for a Barby Bright Smith’s water color of Hotel Lakeside which will be given away on September 4th @ 2 pm at the Labor Day Weekend Sale. Tickets sell for $3 each of 4 for $10 and may be purchased in the museum all summer.
Donations are being accepted for the Labor Day sale and may be left at the Archives or arranged for pick up by calling LHS president Carol Morgan at 419-798-5217. Thanks to all who donated and/or shopped our sale. Proceeds from these sales support one half our annual operating budget! New full time Manager of Operations, Dakota Harkins, joins the Lakeside Heritage Society staff!
Dakota graduated in May from Appalachian State University (Boone, North Carolina) with her M.A. in Public History. She was a Lakeside summer intern for the Education Department during the summers of 2014 and 2015, after graduating from the University of Toledo. LHS will also have a summer intern for the 2017 season, Evan Engelhart. He worked with LHS in the fall through the Intern Program at Heidelberg University, and will return to continue the process of cataloging the many wonderful artifacts found in the LHS Archives and Museum. Make sure to stop on by and visit the staff as the 2017 Lakeside Summer season begins! |
